Co-Occurring Disorders (Dual Diagnosis)

Clinically Reviewed by: Matthew Beck

A co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health disorder can be challenging to treat, but recovery is possible. Our dual-diagnosis treatment program helps those with both addiction and mental health disorders.

Understanding Dual Diagnosis

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), about half of all people with addiction have at least one mental disorder. Each case differs in terms of which disorder occurred first.

Why Mental Health and SUDs Co-Occur

Our Dual Diagnosis Approach

Our dual-diagnosis treatment program recognizes the importance of treating both mental health conditions and addictions simultaneously for best recovery results. Treatment considers factors contributing to diagnosis and may involve both medication and therapies selected separately for each case.
